Mappillai Samba Rice Cooking Recipe (Gaanagam)

Simple Steamed Mappillai Samba Rice

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Gaanagam Mappillai Samba Rice
  • 3 cups water
  • A pinch of salt (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Rinse the Rice: Wash 1 cup of Mappillai Samba rice under running water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for about 30 minutes to 1 hour to reduce cooking time.
  2. Boil the Water: In a pot or pressure cooker, bring 3 cups of water to a boil. Add a pinch of salt for flavor if desired.
  3. Cook the Rice: Add the soaked and drained rice to the boiling water. Stir once and cover. If using a pressure cooker, cook for 3 to 4 whistles.
